Motorola Droid 4 Is Verizon's Top QWERTY Phone Reviews | Latest Phone news March 2012 News

The Back Story: Smartphones with physical keyboards not made by RIM have become an endangered species. Thankfully, Motorola has kept the elderly school keyboard alive (and relevant) with its signature Droid series. The Google-owned company has put out a quantity of most powerful and quickest handsets on the market throughout the years, and have kicked off 2012 on a high note with the phenomenal RAZR Maxx. Looking to continue its hot streak, the company decided to pull the trigger one time again on a newer version of the original Droid phone. After misfiring massive time with the Droid three, Moto hopes to rejuvenate its trademark handset by welcoming a fashionable redesign, 4G speed, and an enhanced keyboard for its latest creation: the Droid four.

Marketed as the thinnest and most powerful 4G QWERTY smartphone, the Verizon powerhouse has progressively built a buzz amongst the Android faithful with plenty of labeling it the last great keyboard smartphone of this period. So with a couple of fresh upgrades and a sleek look, is the Droid four able to living up to this moniker?

Dope:
Industrial design and upgraded keyboard: From the dark-slate finish to the contoured edges, Motorolas newest kid sports the same streamlined aesthetics as the Droid RAZR (minus the Kevlar-coated rear). Its thought about the thinnest phone of its kind, boasting the slimmest profile of any QWERTY keyboard handset. Speaking of the QWERTY, Moto enhanced the keyboard with exceptional tactile feedback and long lasting buttons. Typing on the Droid four felt more comfortable than the last-gen model thanks to the smaller button layout and soft-touch keys. Composing emails, texts, and Facebook and Twitter updates appeared effortless. And with the edge-lit background, you'll be able to see and type on the whole keyboard in dark environments. It is arguably Verizon's best QWERTY phone.

Finally, A 4G Droid: With a handful of devices having adopted Verizons LTE network by mid-2011, reviewers were baffled to see the high-speed service excluded from the Droid three. Motorola smartened up and finally decided to bless its flagship series with 4G support. Our Speedtest.net analysis recorded download speeds of 15Mbps and 3Mbps download in Midtown Manhattan. Web browsing was instant as pages loaded quick, and Android Market purchases transferred over in a matter of seconds: somewhere between 7 and ten to be exact.

Solid battery life: The RAZR Maxx is not the only Android phone out there that can carryover a charge past ten hours on heavy use. All praises go to Motorolas Smart Actions software the energy saving feature that offers several energy preserving options. The same program can be found on both RAZR models (click here to see our breakdown). Moto's one,785 mAh battery holds up well, pulling an average 11 hours in the work of excessive web browsing and gambling sessions, while lasting a complete day on moderate use.

Verizon's best call phone: Its rare to discover a 4G smartphone with impeccable call quality. Verizon subscribers have a gem on their network, as the Droid four delivers great audio. Screened calls were loud, distortion-free, and clear on both ends. Wireless reception was strong throughout the Tri-State area, leading to no dropped calls. Motorolas Elite Sliver Bluetooth headset worked well with the handset and did a lovely job picking up vocals. The speakerphone also served its purposes for hands-free calls.

Strong processor and high storage capacity: Residing inside the Droid four is the same one.2GHz dual-core processor present in both RAZR models. Benchmarks stay the same as the phone generates super-fast navigation, pinpoint touch accuracy, and launches apps quickly. Its multitasking capabilities are great, with all operations jogging smooth when having up to eight programs open in the background. Moto's spec sheet claims the tool holds 16GB of memory, but only 8GB are available, along with two.73GB for apps. That is still respectable. And theres the choice of stuffing a 32GB or 64GB microSD card in there. And with the MotoCast app able to accessing documents and files from your computer, there is lots of memory to go around

Disappointing visuals: They actually found the 4-inch qHD touchscreen on the last Droid to be of the phone's largest strengths. With the Droid four rocking the same screen, they had high expectations for solid picture quality. Not the case. Images and videos lacked sharpness, and the color saturation and clarity was less than stellar.

Another Droid with camera issues: Motorolas track record with smartphone cameras isn't the best. A number of the same flaws found on the Droid RAZR and Photon 4G are still present here, such as delayed shutter speeds and unbalanced focus. Pics and videos also appeared dim and grainy, even in brightly lit settings.

Non-removable battery and case removal irritation: Motos recently become fixated with generating devices that prevent users from swapping out the internal battery. The Droid four falls in to that section. But thats nothing compared to the locksmith procedure necessary to pry open the back cover. The manufacturer requires users to place a little removal kit, which looks like a button with a little pin, in to a micro-hole located on the top right of the phone and apply pressure to slide down the cover. They ought to of given it the Kevlar treatment.

Final Review:
Final Say: The Droid four is a notable step up from its predecessor thanks to exceptional voice calling & an brilliant QWERTY keyboard. Unlike the Droid 3's short run, the addition of LTE will serve as the phone's most vital attribute assuring an extended shelf life. Besides those attributes, the Droid four dishes the same specs & performance as the RAZR smartphones. The dual-core is zippy, all of Motorolas corporate features are intact, & its compatible with all the companys accessories (Lapdock, HD Dock, etc.). & at $100 cheaper than the RAZR Maxx, they find it to be the better purchase for energy hogs, though the former is the general superior model. However, the Droid four also takes on the same illnesses as the RAZR line. The built-in battery could be a major issue in the long run & the camera program needs serious improvement. In the finish, the Droid four stands strong as the best QWERTY smartphone obtainable now.

Windows latest Phone devices for 2012 | ZTE Announces 15 Android phone

The mobile phone manufacturers have been bringing it at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), & ZTE is no exception. The Chinese manufacturer announced several Android handsets & hinted at others in the weeks leading up to the show, & on Monday revealed the remainder of their global designs.

Android rings specifically headed toward Europe include the Skate Acqua, Kis, Blade II & ZTE Mimosa X. The Blade II has a 1GHz processor; meanwhile, the Mimosa X is a dual-core device.

Out of the 15 smartphones & tablets is ZTE's flagship phone for the year, the ZTE Period. It runs off an Nvidia Tegra three quad-core one.3GHz processor, has a four.3-inch qHD display & a profile of 7.8 millimetres thick. It will launch in the third quarter of the year.

A slew of long-term evolution (LTE) devices also emerged, including the ZTE V66, a 7-incher with a one.2GHz Qualcomm processor, & the ZTE PF 100 & T98. Both are Tegra three quad-core tablets. The ZTE V95 is another LTE tablet.

Taking a splash in to Windows Phone, there is the ZTE Orbit, which has a four.3-inch screen, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, NFC support & a 4-inch WVGA screen. It is got a planned Q2 launch date.

"This is a brand spanking new year for the ZTE brand," said They Shiyou, executive vice president of ZTE. ZTE currently has a relationship with Telstra, & it will be fascinating to see if the new suite of rings reaches down under.

It is not hardware on ZTE's mind. The Mifavor user interface will ride on top of Android. From the video demo shown at the press conference, the skin, which is dark-themed & friendly-enough overall, looks like it is paired with Gingerbread, though they expect it will also apply to Ice Cream Sandwich as well.

Android vs iPhone Reviews 2012 | Camparison between Android and iPhone

It’s another case of Google vs Apple or Android vs iOS as the two heavyweights in the mobile world have weighed in with their respective app counts. Officially, iOS is still in the lead with more then 350,000 apps and Android now comes in at 150,000.

Although Android may still have a ways to go to take the crown away from iOS, it seems like it is just a matter of time, especially when you take into account the number of Android phones and tablets that have been unveiled in just the last couple of months at both CES and now at MWC.

Earlier today, Apple came out with information about their new subscription model for content providers and within the press release was a quick snapshot of the iOS app market with the comment “the revolutionary App Store offers more than 350,000 apps to consumers in 90 countries, with more than 60,000 native iPad apps”.

At a later point in the day, John Lagerling who is Google’s Director of Android Global Partnerships spoke at MWC 2011, saying that “there are 150,000 applications on the Android market.” Lagerling’s comments are the most current on this topic and signficantly lower then the 200,000 number that was tossed about by James Brian at the end of last year.

For now, Apple has the lead in the app store race and these are needed to meet the needs of the 160 million iOS devices that are in existence worldwide. However, the number of Android activations are growing at an astronomical rate each month as hardware vendors race to get their Android products on the market, so it should just be a matter of time before the crown changes hands

N9 Nokia smartphone rumours tips | Nokia N9 rumours

FINNISH PHONE MAKER Nokia's N9 smartphone prototype has been spotted in China and it is likely to be the first smartphone to run the outfit's own Meego OS. But it is going face actual competition from the upcoming Blackberry Bold and HTC Desire smartphones, so it is going to must be nice to gain much traction.

Regrettably no specifications for the Nokia N9 have been leaked, only some images of the device to tease us at the Chinese language site Baidu.

Overall, the device looks like it is going to be giant, with a screen size comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S.

Nokia looks like it is going to put a slide-out Qwerty keyboard on the N9 and the first impression of it is that looks a lot like a miniaturised Macbook.

Android devices in particular have been flying off the shelves with the OS experiencing an astonishing growth of 561 percent year-on-year. Shipments of devices walking the Google OS are expected to top 55 million this year.

The Meego OS is likely to be key to the success or failure of the N9 and Nokia has all but pinned its hopes on the OS for the high finish market. Not much has been seen of the user interface, and Nokia is going to must work hard to attract users who have grown accustomed to smartphones walking Android or IOS4.

Still, Nokia has an established user base that will welcome its devices. Users at the Nokia Weblog appear enthusiastic to get their hands on this device, based on its looks alone.

"A very lovely device indeed. Let's hope that the OS will have the same value," wrote user.

"This is a piece of beauty. Prepared to see some MeeGo mobile OS live," noted another.
Reports recommend that the N9 could hit the shelves before the finish of the year. Thinking about that Nokia's upcoming N8 has been pushed back to October, this seems odd, as it would mean that Nokia will fundamentally be competing with itself.

However, the N8 will run the Symbian OS while the N9 will run Meego, so Nokia might be able to differentiate the devices based on their operating systems alone.

Nokia's N8 & N9 smartphones are going to must face some stiff competition this year, though.

New Blackberry & HTC handsets are expected to hit the market as early as October, as manufacturers scramble to release fresh devices well ahead of the Christmas shopping season.

The Blackberry Bold R020 will be the successor to the Research in Motion (RIM) current business favourite, the Blackberry Bold 9700. Unsurprisingly, the phone will retain the conventional Blackberry look & feature a two.4-inch LCD screen with 480x360 resolution.

Key upgrades will include the Blackberry 6 OS, 512MB of RAM as well as a beefed up 5-megapixel camera, according to a leaked presentation.

The Blackberry R020 aims to pick up where the Bold 9700 left off & will merge "a ideal balance of speed, power & style", according to RIM.

Meanwhile, the HTC Desire HD & Desire Z have shown up briefly on the retail web-site mobiles.co.uk, but appear to have been taken down.

The specification list for the Desire HD confirms earlier leaked details, & it includes Android two.2 Froyo, a 1GHz processor, an 8 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities & 4GB of internal memory. It is also expected to have a four.3-inch capacitive touchscreen.

There's no specifications listed for the Desire Z, but the description claims that the handset will come with a vivid three.7-inch touchscreen display as well as a slide out full Qwerty keyboard, making it ideal for browsing the world wide web & messaging.

The handset will run Android two.1 & be powered by a 1GHz processor, according to the retailer.

HTC would not confirm details, saying that it does not comment on rumours & speculation.

However, it does appear that Nokia's N8 & N9 smartphones will have some actual competition from RIM & HTC this Autumn & in the runup to Christmas.

camparison between Nokia lumia 800 vs Nokia N9 and Nokia N8

Stealthy black is the colour of the day, says me. So they rounded up stealthy black Nokia rings to compare their shapes, sizes, curves & differences. Our eyes are drawn to particular black beauty though, which is the new Nokia Lumia 800. Put side-to-side with an N9, there is not much that sets them apart aside from a few details. Lets go...

Left to right we have the Nokia N9, Lumia 800 and N8. In the photograph it looks like the N8 is taller but I assure you it’s not. The N9 and Lumia 800 both have a couple of millimetres on the imaging king there. In the centre you can see the Lumia 800′s back key, home button and search button. This means the 3.7″ display size is slightly smaller than the N9′s 3.9″.

On the the centre handset here (Nokia Lumia 800) the extra button is a dedicated camera key. This is a welcome addition for photography focused users.

Here is a good example of just how sleek the Lumia 800 is in comparison to the N8. Although the N8 has a huge 12MP Carl Zeiss camera, it takes up a lot of room on the exterior of the phone with that large sensor and Xenon flash. Also we can see another difference in the N9 and Lumia 800 – the duel LED flash is positioned parallel to the camera lens instead of above. (Aha you see, the Lumia 800 is on the left this time, did you notice?)
